the first guy said.
“No. It’s for all of us,” Aoi said while holding her staff upright.
“Very well, then.” The man paused. “I am an hourglass. I am purple. I am of high height, but of low width. I can cartwheel but I can’t handstand. I can hide, but I can’t run. I can throw, but I can’t catch, what am I?” the first guy said while smiling.
I tried to think of an hourglass that was purple, and of high height, but low width. I think it’s an hour glass, though people don’t put the answer out there like that. So, it can’t be an hourglass.
An hourglass would be able to handstand. I thought. As they say, people who pass puberty, they get curves, and one of the shapes they list, is an hourglass. I nodded. I’m getting it! There are women that are tall and skinny shaped like hourglasses, yes! I have seen women tall and skinny cartwheel. Most of them don’t handstand. Yes! I’m so, going to get this right. Ok, so they can hide. Anyone can, and they can run, but most people with a banana shape are the ones that run. Yes, yes, yes! I’m going to get away from here
alive. I nodded again. I’m stumped! This part is hard. A woman can throw, but anyone can. I can’t catch… Hmmm, that’s kind of hard. It suddenly came to me. A woman who plays as the pitcher in baseball! I did a short happy dance.
“The stalker looks like she knows the answer,” the first guy said while letting out a dry cough.
I chuckled. “I got you guys all wrapped around my finger! I know the answer” I paused.
Everyone was looking at me, with eyes that were asking what the answer was. I grunted.
“What’s the problem? Cat got your tongue?” The second guy asked while playing with a blood stained pocket knife.
“The answer is…the answer is it’s a woman” I paused and looked at Aoi and Hana-yon. They nodded. “A woman who plays a sport.” I paused.
“Is that your answer?” The second man asked in a tone that teachers use to confuse students, after they give the right answer.
“No” I said, hoping everybody caught on to what I was saying. “It’s a woman who plays, as a pitcher.” I paused again, looking around.
“I see what you’re doing. You’re trying to give everyone the answer. Now you’re gonna die for cheating!” The first guy said while getting up off of his chair.
“It’s a shame. You were right; too bad you don’t have a heart of stone. If you did, you would get out of here alive and they would be left to answer their own riddles.”
The second guy said while stomping on the first guy’s cigarette.
I backed away. Everyone else backed up too. The first and second man lunged at us with the pocket knife.
I grabbed Aoi who was closest and I ran into the woods. It’s amazing what you do when you have adrenaline rushing in your veins. I dashed through the woods, jumping over everything and squatting below anything I could. I was in front of Aoi.
“No! Please stop!” I heard a muffled yell of pain. It sounded like Kaelinda.
“Ouch! Stop!” I heard another voice yell. It sounded like Edmund. I stopped and gulped.
“Why don’t we make this slow and painful!” I heard one of the men yell.
I heard someone say, “No! Stop, you psycho killer!” It sounded like Kaelinda.
I turned around and ran back. I was followed by Aoi. I couldn’t let my friends die like that.
After a distance I ran into someone. I fell on my butt and rubbed my forehead. I looked at who I ran into. It was Kaelinda. She was crying. I couldn’t see her face, but I recognized her voice.
“Run, run! Turn around run! Before they realize I’m gone!” Kaelinda said struggling to get up. I helped her up as I stood up.
“Kaelinda it’s me, Kaelor. Where is everyone? Are they alive?” I asked.
“Yes. No… I don’t know! I ran when Paige threw a kunai dagger at them.” she said trying to push past me.
