moved from her seat and placed a hand on his arm before he could march out the door. “Jason is already going to be my back up so you can just sit back down.”
“Jason you say?” Her father’s eyes lit up. “Well, why didn’t you say so? He’s such a great guy. I don’t know why you two ever split up.”
“That’s another thing I wanted to talk to you about.” Isabel sat back down, her hands fiddling in front of her. “The reason Jason and I broke up before was because he wanted children, and well, I don’t. Or I didn’t.”
    “When did this happen?”
“I’ve always felt that way, ever since mom left.” Isabel glanced at the wall, her eyes pricking with tears.
“Oh, Isabel.” Her father sat down next to her on the couch, taking her hands in his. “That had nothing to do with you.” He sighed, wariness in his voice. “She never wanted to settle down, have kids. She wanted to travel the world. But when Lisa was born she tried, she really did. She loved you and your sisters but she let it tie her down. She didn’t see how she could ever have both, and when it came down to it, decided she couldn’t be the best mother for you if she couldn’t be the best of herself.”
“Isn’t that being selfish? Don’t you hate her for it?”
“I did for a long time.” He turned to her and held her shoulders. “But that doesn’t have to be you. Having kids does not have to be the end of your dreams and ambitions; you can have it all and be happy. You just have to choose to make it happen.”
Isabel smiled and hugged him. “Thanks, daddy. That’s what I needed to hear.” Standing from the couch, she moved for the door.
“So are you two back together then?” He asked causing her to stop at the door.
“We’ll see.” She gave him a wink and stepped out onto the porch.
As she left her father’s house, she couldn’t help the sense of relief that fell over her. She wasn’t her mother. There was nothing stopping her from being happy. Or so she thought.
    “Hello, Belle.”

Chapter 13
    Jason
Ever since Isabel left the apartment, Jason couldn’t stop smiling. It had come to the point where he was scaring his customers away, and he had to force his jaw to relax.
“You look happy.” Lu leaned against the shop counter, watching Jason with a knowing grin on his face.
“Well, I am,” he said over his shoulder as he rearranged some of the products on the front counter. He wasn’t going to let his friend’s teasing ruin his good mood. He had Isabel back and the wolf almost out of the picture nothing could go wrong.
The other man chuckled and adjusted the utility belt of his police uniform. “And that wouldn’t have anything to do with you and Isabel leaving the bar together yesterday would it?”
“Possibly.” Jason couldn’t keep his lips from curving up once more. He wasn’t surprised that they had been seen. They hadn’t been trying to hide it, and a small part of him hoped everyone in town saw her leave his apartment that morning as well.
“So are you back together or what?”
That made Jason’s smile fall a bit. He didn’t know what was going to happen between him and Isabel. Once things were settled with the mutt, he had hope they would start back up where they left off. Though, he couldn’t help but notice the three little words that had yet to pass through Isabel’s lovely lips. He had no doubt that she loved him, but if it was her that needed to admit it.
“We’ll see.” Jason placed the last of the displays on the counter. “But that’s not what I called you over here for.”
“Oh, yeah? So you didn’t just want to gloat and say I told you so?” Lu quirked a brow at him. “Now that’s not like you at all.”
“Not today at least. I have a bigger problem to deal with.” Jason sighed running a hand through his hair. “Short of killing the bastard, I don’t know how to get the mutt out of town and out of Isabel’s life. I just don’t see him leaving on his
